Python module interface for tcp_wrapper?

Has anybody implemented a Python or C module to interface to the host_access
routines from Wietse Venema's tcp_wrappers program? I just installed it
today on my machines and asked a friend to poke a bit. He used strobe to
see what ports were being listened to. On one port I have a database server
written in Python. I'd like it to have access to the host_access routines
so I can use /etc/hosts.{allow,deny} to limit access.

If nobody's done this already I'll take a crack at it, but I've been pretty
busy lately so I might not get to it for awhile. It would be faster for me
to simply test the remote address against a dictionary of valid hosts.

Thanks,
