Tuples and lists.

Hello all,

I am new to Python, so please don't bite. Anyhow, I have been considering
Python as a scripting language in an app I am doing. But I am wondering
what exactly is the difference between tuples and lists?

I realize that Tuples are immutable but Lists aren't, is that it?

Also, one other question. Has anybody made talk of a stricter method of
symbol checking in Python? Where symbols would have to be declared before
use?

Thanks all,
Mark G.
