Anyone implemented des authentication for Demo/rpc/rpc.py??

Howdy!

I am amazed and pleased by the Demo/rpc stuff that came with python
1.0.3 - it seems to work quite cleanly "out of the package", if the
test functions are any indicator, and it could be *extremely* useful.
My immediate need for it is in communicating with Sun's NIS+, which i
have to run with DES authentication. My problem is that rpc.py only
comes with precoded routines for null and unix authentication, and i'm
only learning (always only learning:-) to use rpc in the first place.

Has anyone out there messed with the python rpc stuff? In particular,
have you produced the routines for interacting at the level of DES
authentication? I would drop a line to ask the author, but there is
no attribution. Guido?

I hope to have the chance to implement this NIS+ connection one way or
another, in the next few months, and will be glad to share what i come
up with once it's ironed out...
