I've written a number of modules to handle various image file formats
in python, via a standardised interface. You can ftp them from
ftp.cwi.nl, directory /pub/jack/python-img.

Currently, there is support for TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PBM+ and SGI RGB
files. You should consider the current release a beta version, since
it has only been tested lightly, and only on an SGI running Irix
5.2. I'd like to hear from you if you get it working on another
platform. Also, I'd like feedback on what y'all think of the
interface.
