compiling python for DOS

I would like to compile python for DOS using either Borland C3.1 or Watcom
C (v. 9.5). I would appreciate any helpful comments. I had no problem
installing python on a workstation (sun), but I got the impression that it
wouldn't be so straightforward with DOS.
