I certainly don't think this is _important_, because I don't think
threads in Python are vital (if you dropped them in the next release,
would you get many complaints?).
Complaints? Maybe not, but if they were incorporated painlessly for a
variety of platforms you might get a lot of praise. If I were
starting my PhD research again I might well base it on python if
threads were available and reliable. I rely on them heavily in my
Modula-3 code.
