Is this "Expect(1)" the tcl application, or something else ?

There has been some discussion on one of the mail mailing-lists
about "enabled mail" - one proposed version of which uses
safe-tcl ( a security minded variant of tcl ) in a MIME mail
wrapper to create "active objects" .

This is similar to something I've been interested in for a while
( but haven't had much time to work on ) which is a sort of
object-oriented file containing active objects, as a replacement
for scientific database type file formats and API's like NCSA HDF
and netCDF.
[ And the unsolved problem I've run into is how to make the facility
both general purpose enough ( for example, it may have to create
files or other objects on the system it's running on ) and safe and
secure. ]
I happen to prefer python over tcl and some of the other alternatives,
but *IF* tcl becomes a standard for transmitting "active objects", then
perhaps we should either (1) implement (safe-)tcl in python, or (2)
incorporate a tclmodule.c.
( Forgive the loose use of the word 'we' above - it may be that no one
else on the list is at all interested in this topic ... but I suspect
that Guido and others at cwi working on multimedia applications ARE
interested. )
